In response to the United States’ illegal aggression against Venezuela on January 3, and the Canadian government’s silence in the face of this violation of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter, People’s Voice is launching a petition campaign to Parliament.
Our petition makes the straightforward call for Ottawa to condemn the military attack and kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, to demand their immediate return to Venezuela, to call for the immediate withdrawal of all US and foreign military from the region, and to oppose US and other foreign interference in other countries’ sovereign affairs.
We are asking all readers to download and print the petition, gather signatures at solidarity rallies and other events, and share it among friends and colleagues.
Completed petitions can be mailed to:

PETITION to the Parliament of Canada:
WHEREAS the January 3, 2026 military attack by the United States against Venezuela and kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores was an illegal act of aggression which violates Article 2 of the United Nations Charter;
AND WHEREAS the people of Venezuela alone have the right to determine their own destiny free of outside interference;
AND WHEREAS US President Donald Trump has already suggested his willingness to similarly intervene militarily in other countries including Cuba and Colombia;
AND WHEREAS this illegal act of aggression against Venezuela is a component of increasing US efforts to intervene in and violate the sovereignty of countries throughout the Americas including Canada;
We the undersigned petition the Parliament of Canada to:
- Condemn the United States’ illegal January 3 aggression against Venezuela which included the kidnapping of its president;
- Demand that the US immediately return Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores to Venezuela;
- Demand the immediate withdrawal of all US and foreign military from the Latin America and Caribbean region;
- Actively oppose US and other foreign interference in the sovereign affairs of other countries.
